Healthy Futures for Young People Appeal Reaches $3.25m

Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir at the launch of the Healthy Futures for Young People Appeal

In September 2007 the Medical Foundation launched its Healthy Futures for Young People Appeal to raise much needed funds to establish a Chair in Adolescent Medicine at the University of Sydney and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The aim of the Chair is to integrate the various strands of research, clinical training and teaching, while promoting youth health issues such as mental health and suicide, chronic illness, risk taking behaviour, obesity and eating disorders.

Due to the tireless efforts of our motivated Appeal Committee volunteers, and the generosity of our donors, the Foundation has raised $3.25m, of the $4.5m needed to fund the chair in perpetuity.
